Photos: Stars and Ellis at the Horseshoe Tavern’s “Chill-O-Rama”

Live music is back in Toronto! On a cloudy Friday summer night, Stars and Ellis treated us to a dreamy evening of music at CityView Drive-In as part of the Horseshoe Tavern‘s “Chill-O-Rama” drive-in and livestream festival this weekend.

Ellis opened the show playing a collection of tracks from her recently released EP, nothing is sacred anymore. With a mix of bedroom pop, shoegaze, and delicate ballads, Ellis’ laidback songs offered the perfect soundtrack to ease us back in to live music.

Montreal’s Stars closed out the night with a set of fan favourites and the endearing stage banter fans have come to love from them. Stars bring an incomparable energy to the stage that’s a mix of pure talent, gratitude, and absolute joy.

One of my favourite things about live music is experiencing the joy of others around you, and having that shared experience with both the artists and fans. Having been a band since the early 2000s, it’s incredible to see Stars consistently bring this energy to the stage, no matter what. Their show brought a sense of hope that I think we’ve all been missing throughout the past year and a half.

As live music makes its return, Toronto’s legendary venue, Horseshoe Tavern, is presenting a series of live shows. Learn more about their upcoming events here.
