Led by the dual male-female vocal alchemy of keytarist Vanessa Vakharia and guitarist David Kochberg, Toronto rock band Goodnight Sunrise is an organized sort of chaos. With a hard-earned reputation as an unforgettable live act through over 400 shows across Europe and North America since forming in 2011, their new album “Against All Odds” is an anthemic guitar-driven testament to their relentless urge to make sense of the world. The ultimate YOLO track, “This Is Yours (To Make)” is about following your dreams and supporting others in pursuing theirs. With its uplifting lyrics and infectious sound, Goodnight Sunrise has been closing their high-energy live set with “This Is Yours” ever since writing it back in 2011. 400+ shows later, the song has evolved into an anthemic rollercoaster singalong, with each venue transforming into a house party complete with glowsticks, confetti, and often friends and musical guests joining the band on stage.
“This release shows how far we have come as a band in so many ways. It retains the innocence and hopefulness we had when we started our band in 2011, and captures how much better we have gotten as musicians and performers. Three full-length albums and countless singles later we have also matured in the studio, and our work on this song with producer Brian Moncarz (Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party, Alice Cooper) and mixer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES, Fake Shark) reflect how our sound has evolved over the years too. This single essentially bottles up our entire band history into an explosive party rock anthem and we can’t wait to sing it live with crowds across Canada this summer”, the band shares.
