Lush lashes really can come from a tube – a volumizing mascara roundup

Love the look of thick, voluminous?  So do I.  Some may say you need lash extensions to truly achieve that eye aesthetic, but I don’t love is the feeling of lash extensions.  While it works for many, I’ve learned it’s not for me.  I’m always in search of a great mascara that can give me similar results to that thick, lash extension look, and I’m always trying out new products to find that give the perfect look, yet still feels comfortable and easy to wear.  Here are the latest products I’ve tried in mission to find lush lashes in a tube, all tried and tested by yours truly for maximum lash capacity and lash look satisfaction.

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils

Easily the spendiest product on the list, I will forever swear by YSL’s Effet Faux Cils volumizing mascara as the best mascara on the market, if you’re looking for a true false lash effect.  It’s not a coincidence that the mascara’s name translates as such, because it truly delivers in the volume department.  Effet Faux Cils is decadent in every aspect, from the luxurious gold tube to the unmistakably French fragrance (yes, it’s perfume for your eyelashes).  It’s my ultimate cosmetic treat, and I savour it to the very end, only pulling it out for the most ostentatious makeup looks when no other mascar will do.  If you’ve got the extra bucks and need an extra flex, get a tube of this and bat yourself into lash happiness.

Too Faced Better than Sex Volume Mascara

Can a product with such a salacious name really live up to the reputation such a name provides?  In the case of this offering from Too Faced, absolutely.  Its curvaceous brush and thick formula come together to coat every lash, adding length, volume and curl.  The resulting look showcases thick, lush lashes that are exceptionally sexy.  And the pricepoint is more accessible while still delivering luxury quality and exceptional wear.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara

When I’m wishing for the YSL look but I’m on a drugstore budget, my mainstay mascara is L’Oreal Voluminous.  It’s the ultimate in buildable volume mascaras at a more affortable price.  You can buy it just about anywhere in the world, and with a bit of technique, you can achieve a beautiful, false lash look in a few sweeps of the wand.  I prefer the wand with the curved brush, which can help achieve a curled look without a lash curler.  Just sweet a couple of coats onto your lashes, making sure to coat the lashes thoroughly from root to tip.  When you reach the tips of your lashes, hold the brush back, towards your browbone, for a few moments.  When you release the brush your lashes should have a curled look with very little effort.

Annabelle – Volume Master Mascara

For the Canadian contender, I love Annabelle cosmetics, and their variety of great quality products, including mascara.  Their Volume Master mascara combines great volume with easy removal, making it a great choice for daily wear with that extra oomph.  Its thick, vegan formula is made up of 74% natural ingredients, including revitalizing jojoba oil and sunflower seed.   It applies easily and smoothly , allowing for multiple coats without clumps and with definition.  The resulting look is lush and lovely with all day and night comfort.  And when the day (or night) is done, all this mascara needs is warm water to remove.
