This week on the Reheat – From Lohan to Kardashian: The Mount Rushmore of overbearing celebrity parents

Hello, and welcome to The Reheat! Each week, I write a column summarizing the highlights of the podcast I co-host with Sadaf Ahsan. Our podcast, also titled The Reheat (what a coincidence!), re-examines the most salacious scandals of yester-year through a contemporary lens. Whether it’s a deep dive into Bennifer’s original love story from the 2000s or a meditation on the time princess Anne was almost kidnapped, we explain why each saga captured our imaginations back in the day. Sadaf and I also ask, would these stories be as scandalous if they happened in 2021? The answers to that question might surprise you!

Whenever we release a new episode, I share some of the juiciest tidbits right here, for Addicted Magazine’s lovely readers. Obviously, we hope these columns tantalize you enough to listen to our podcast. That’s where you’ll learn the fascinating details I don’t share here…

This week’s installment of The Reheat re-examines tackles the stories of four different infamous parent managers, including Mathew Knowles, Joe Jackson, Dina Lohan, and the grande dame of all momagers, THE Kris Jenner. Here’s an interesting fact about each of these celeb parents.

Kris Jenner’s Kids Aren’t All Easy To Work With

Kris Jenner has acted as a momager for all six of her showbiz kids. However, the Kardashian matriarch has publicly stated some of her offspring are easier to work with than others. Kendall is apparently the easiest to manage, while the eldest Kourtney gives Kris the most “lip.”

Mathew Knowles Is An Advocate For Men Living With Breast Cancer

Beyonce may have fired her father as a manager in 2011, but Mathew Knowles hasn’t disappeared from the spotlight. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Mathew spoke publicly about the need to destigmatize male breast cancer. He also stated that one of his first phone calls post-diagnosis was to his children, so the professional rift in Mathew and Beyonce’s relationship has not caused complete estrangement!

Joe Jackson Was a Horrifically  Abusive Father

Parent managers have been known to push their kids (Remember when Kris Jenner pressured Kim into posing nude for Playboy?) However, there’s a difference between putting pressure on your children to do what it takes to become famous and outright terrorizing them. Sadly, Joe Jackson, patriarch of one of the best known musical families in history, was both physically and emotionally abusive to his children. Latoya Jackson has gone on record about the scarring experience of growing up with Joe, who passed away in 2018.

Dina Lohan Was Probably Catfished

Lindsay Lohan was a tabloid staple of the 00s. The former child star had come of age and was partying hard at LA hotspots like Les Deux. Eventually, things got so dire the Mean Girls actress was charged with multiple DUIs and was eventually sentenced to a day in jail. There was much speculation that Dina Lohan, who was sometimes seen drinking with her daughter, was enabling the star’s breakdown. Today, Lindsay Lohan seems like she’s in a better place (thank God), but Dina does not. During a stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Dina described being in a long-term relationship with a man she has never met! Sorry, Dina! This sounds like textbook catfishing…
