On May 8 2026, Toronto’s own Nia Nadurata got on stage at LONGBOAT HALL as part of Departure 2026 in collaboration with School Night and took the crowd by storm.
Coming off winning a SOCAN Foundation Black Canadian Music Award last year, Nia’s career is on a nonstop rise. The up-and-coming pop star is a breath of fresh air in the scene, putting on a performance that is full of enthusiasm and authenticity. Joined by drummer Nico Elías and guitarist Cole Wilson, the trio are electrifying.
Being my third time photographing Nadurata, I have come to love her music. Her songs are catchy and filled with deep personal meaning that she touched on while introducing each of them, even throwing in some comedic inside jokes with her parents in the crowd. Nia’s set was short but sweet, containing favourites of the crowd that included Souvenirs, i think i like your girlfriend, boo hoo, and many more, even performing an unreleased song that was welcomed with great approval from the crowd.
The 25 year old has just one EP and a few singles released so far, but announced that she has new music on the way, hinting at an album on the horizon. With the talent, dedication, and promise she shows, I can guarantee this won’t be the last time you hear Nia Nadurata’s name. Keep up with her upcoming shows on her Instagram.
