Toronto’s Budweiser Stage became a vibrant, time-traveling disco on a September 24, 2025, hosting an epic triple-header of ’70s and ’80s new wave royalty. Fans were treated to a spectacle of quirky personas, iconic fashion, and unforgettable hits as DEVO and The B-52’s co-headlined, with a special opening performance by the pioneering UK artist, Lene Lovich.

Kicking off the night was the incomparable Lene Lovich. The UK veteran, known for her distinctive vocal style and avant-garde aesthetic, immediately set a playful and theatrical mood. She brought her infectious, quirky personality and the signature Supernature spunk that instantly transported the audience back to the edgy, artistic era of post-punk and new wave’s genesis. Her energetic stage presence and unique sound proved she remains a vital, captivating force in music.

Next up, the legendary DEVO stormed the stage, delivering on their promise of a full-blown spectacle. Clad in their signature, instantly recognizable yellow Tyvek suits and bright red Energy Dome hats, the band looked like they had just stepped out of a classic music video. Their performance was a tightly controlled explosion of energy, featuring their iconic and coordinated choreography. The crowd erupted with every beat, following the band’s every movement and ensuring everyone wanted to Whip It all night long. Their set was a powerful reminder of their lasting influence on music, art, and visual culture, solidifying their status as true innovators.

Headlining the unforgettable evening were The B-52’s, who took the stage with just as much enthusiasm as they did when they first started making music nearly 50 years ago. Don’t be fooled by the decades—this band is undeniably still young at heart, and their vibrant performance was proof of their enduring spirit. They brought some hit songs, including Love Shack, Rock Lobster and Roam. Their unique blend of surf rock, punk energy, and go-go beats, propelled by the interplay of vocalists Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, and Cindy Wilson, had the crowd on their feet for every song. The sheer joy and campy fun of their delivery confirmed that The B-52’s remain one of the most beloved and entertaining live acts in rock history.

It was a perfect night for any fan of new wave, celebrating the groundbreaking music and lasting personas of three true icons.
