Making Better Choices for Our Family and the Environment

My partner and I have been on a mission for the last few years to cut down on waste, make more sustainable choices and be better to the world around us, and while we still have work to do, we have made some great strides in our ongoing mission.

Now you may think to yourself, what changes can I make? You’d be surprised as there are many. Thankfully, great companies, like Net Zero Company, offer eco-friendly, sustainable products so you can switch from wasteful products to reusable ones that will help make our personal impact on the planet much less.

Reusable Paper Towels

I have to admit, as a clean freak, I’ve always used way too many paper towels, that is until I found the perfect replacement, reusable paper towels. The 100% cotton and bamboo cotton terry are ideal for cleaning up spills, dusting, washing your car, cleaning appliances, and so much more.

The reusable paper towels come in six elegant cool or warm-toned designs. Each kitchen towel measures 11 x 11in / 28 x 28cm and arrives in plastic free shipping, so that means not only are you saving on the use of endless disposable paper towels, but you’re also not throwing out a big wad of plastic every time you buy a new pack.

Silicone Sealer Bags

A couple of years ago, I decided to move away from using plastic sandwich bags and bought a pack of 3 silicone bags, which after two years, have seen better days, so I wanted to restock with a few new ones.

From sandwiches to pet snacks, putting away leftovers to travel toiletries, these 100% food-grade silicone food storage bags are non-toxic, durable, and reusable alternatives to disposable plastic bags.

And in 2 years before I began using these, I ran through over 200 sandwich bags and two rolls of cling wrap and instead, over the last two only used three silicone bags that are also packaged plastic free, and that means it’s yet another way to reduce personal waste.

Reusable Food Containers

Another way that we have all been probably working to reduce waste over the years is by having a collection of tupperware. Still, I’ve found that the plastic tupperware doesn’t hold up that well over time, so when I found stainless steel containers with silicone lids, I just had to try them for myself. I have to admit; they are pretty great.

Available in3 convenient sizes – these round stainless steel containers with lids are plastic-free and perfect for on-the-go nibbles.

And because these reusable food containers feature a leak-proof silicone lid, you’ll never have to worry about liquids spilling out and making a mess. These stainless steel round food containers are perfect tagalongs for your lunch bag, backpack, or leftovers in your fridge.

Mini Reusable Sauce Containers

Are you a little sauce crazy like me? If so, then you can enjoy without worrying about waste.

Whether you’re looking to store hummus, tzatziki, ketchup or any other sauce or dip, these reusable sauce containers keep food fresh without hurting the environment.

These airtight containers fit neatly in any Net Zero Co. Munchie Box, picnic basket, lunchbox, or beach bag without causing spills or leaks. They come in a Pack of 3, each holding 2oz / 50mL.

Swedish Cellulose Dishcloths

A few years ago, I came across Swedish cellulose dishcloths, and my inner clean freak fell in love.

These dishcloths are super effective as they absorb 15 times their own weight in liquid! Therefore, they are perfect for wiping down any surface and leaving a streak-free shine.

The Swedish Cellulose Dishcloths are Super absorbent: 1 sponge cloth = 17 paper towel rolls + 5 kitchen sponges. Easy to clean and quick to dry. Each dishcloth is 7 L x 0.005 W x 7.5 H

I used them for clean-up around the sink, dusting, and floor spills, and they are absolutely perfect for cleaning mirrors and glass as they don’t leave streaks. On top of that, they can be used for years since I still have my originals (though they are a little worse for wear), so it was time to grab a couple of new ones.

Organic Soap Dish Tray

You may ask yourself, what does a soap dish tray have to do with helping the environment? Well, liquid soap comes in a plastic bottle, and often, we buy those dispensers over and over, but the bar soap that we buy comes in cardboard boxes, not wrapped in plastic, and as I’ve learned over the years, it’s better to have a soap tray so the soap can dry out between use.

The bamboo tray will elevate the soap block and help to preserve the lifespan of any organic soap bar. Crafted from biodegradable materials, this dish is a chic accessory for any space needing extra storage.

The organic soap dish tray comes in 2 beautiful colours: Tan / Wood. It is an eco-friendly self-care must-have, measuring 3.3 L x 1 W x 4.5 H (inch).

Zero Waste Lip Balm With Paper Packaging

Another way to reduce plastic waste? Zero waste lip balm. Each plastic-free chapstick is filled with soothing ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, and shea butter and is hand-poured.

It works great, has a lovely scent, and really works while helping to cut down on waste.

Silicone Baking Duo – Set of Baking Mats and Dozen Baking Cups

Traditional parchment paper and single-use baking cups have been designed to keep you creating waste daily and (unnecessarily) spending money replenishing these items infinitely.

So, when I came across the silicone baking duo, a set of baking mats and a dozen baking cups, I just had to test them out. Roast a lovely dinner or bake sweet treats without leaving a trace. The silicone bakeware duo features the Net Zero best-selling silicone baking mats, silicone baking cups, and ten plant-based recipes.

They are made with FDA-approved silicone and are safe for ovens up to 428°F. The non-stick surface makes it easy to plate and clean, and they are also dishwasher safe, though I wash them by hand.

Net Zero Strips – Laundry Detergent Strips

Did you know that most liquid laundry detergents are made up of 90% water? This means they are bad for the environment, and that’s not even touching on the chemicals they use to make them. And you’re not the only one that has to lug around those heavy jugs – gas-guzzling trucks have to transport them.

These ultra-concentrated and hypoallergenic laundry detergent strips create over 90% less transportation pollution. The sensitive formula delivers a powerful clean to eliminate tough stains, restore whites and keep colours bright. They’re also free of the harmful chemicals you’ll find in liquid detergents (parabens, phosphates, dyes, bleach, formaldehyde and more). They’re also free of the recently banned chemical 1,4-Dioxane.

Did we also mention how easy to use they are? Simply drop and go. Choose from 32 or 64-load packages. One strip = one load. No measuring, no mess.

Kitchen 100% Cellulose Sponges

Did you know that some sponges are made of toxic materials? I didn’t realize until a few years ago, so when I found these plant-based 100% Cellulose Sponges, I had to find out more and test them out. These eco-sponges are made from natural wood pulp, cotton fibres and contain no dye.

Spare yourself from artificial and toxic sponges and enjoy this biodegradable sponge that will leave any surface spotless!

Whether it is for dishes, countertops or walls- these unique sponges will clean everything without leaving a mark on your house or the world.

Beeswax Food Wraps

Are you like me and spent years using far too much plastic wrap? Well, then, you need to familiarize yourself with beeswax food wraps. These beeswax food wraps are perfect for wrapping fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread and more. They are lightweight and flexible to wrap and store your food leftovers. Made with 100% natural ingredients, the natural food wraps are an easy go-to to reduce or cut out single-use plastics in your kitchen. Save on wasteful plastic wraps that harm our environment, and enjoy an organic way to store and protect your food!

You can even use them as bowl covers in the fridge, as they fit and stay as you place them around the top of any container.

They are well-made, durable, easy to whip down and clean and will last years if taken care of properly.

So, if you’re looking to reduce your waste and get some great products, I suggest checking out the top-notch collection from Net Zero Company. You might not think you can make an impact, but by making small changes, we’ve undoubtedly found that we can.
