Toronto’s HISTORY played host to a stacked post-hardcore lineup on May 24, with headliners Dance Gavin Dance supported by Novelists, Wolf & Bear, and The Fall of Troy. The night offered a full-spectrum dive into the genre, showcasing its technical precision, high energy, and emotional depth.

First up was France’s metalcore band Novelists, who opened the evening with a tight and melodic set. They set the tone early, drawing the growing crowd in with their polished sound. Next came Wolf & Bear, who did an excellent job getting the audience on their feet and raising the energy in the room. Their set brought a lively momentum that carried into the next act.

The Fall of Troy kept that momentum going, ensuring the energy stayed high while waves of crowd surfers began flowing across the venue. With their intense riffs and rapid tempo changes, they primed the audience perfectly for the arrival of the headliners.

When Dance Gavin Dance finally took the stage, the sheer scale of HISTORY became apparent. Fans from all eras of the scene came together, making the performance feel like a shared, collective experience. The crowd was alive with mosh pits, crowd surfing, and loud singalongs, keeping the energy constant from start to finish.

Sonically, the band was incredibly sharp, everything sounded crisp and clear, with no part of the set lost in the roar of the crowd. Rather than feeling like a series of separate performances, the night came together as a unified celebration of the post-hardcore scene.
