Art Toronto Returns To The Metro Convention Centre This October

Art Toronto returns for its 23rd edition from October 27–30th featuring over 90 galleries from
Canada, the USA and abroad, including some heavy hitters like Night Gallery (LA), Galerie Pici
(NYC/Seoul), Royale Projects (LA), K Art (Buffalo), Daniel Faria Gallery (TO), Cooper Cole
(TO), Fazakas Gallery (Van), Pangée (MTL) and more. The fair will return to its 2019 footprint,
taking up all three halls in the Metro Convention Centre’s North Building and is back to its
regular four days of operation, opening with an invite-only preview Thursday the 27th, from 4-9
pm.

Mia Nielsen, Director of Art Toronto, said, “Art Toronto is committed to showcasing leading
contemporary galleries and their artists over an elevated weekend, designed for extraordinary
gathering. As Canada’s art fair, it is important to reflect the voices that make up our nation and
continue to support excellence in visual arts. This year we are delighted to showcase the talents
of distinguished curatorial voices and be a meeting point for conversation and ideas. We look
forward to shining a spotlight on not only the diverse Canadian art market but a broader
representation of global talents.”

NEW INITIATIVES:

New for the 2022 addition, Art Toronto launches a 1200 sqft Focus Exhibition, an initiative to
create, explore and investigate the work of artists shown at the fair, and an opportunity to
present new and often ambitious works from participating galleries. Curated by Marie-Charlotte
Carrier (Hayword Gallery, London), held open, explores the manifold ways we relate to one
another and the non-human. The works in the show pulled from exhibiting galleries from across
Canada and the US, offer a respite, a moment to observe what is often concealed, and at times,
speculation of how these worlds might be intertwined or even collide. Here, contemporary artists
are shown alongside historical works, complicating narratives and creating points of
understanding contemporary concerns by examining the past. Works will be available for
purchase.
