Bryson Tiller brought the Back and I’m Better tour to Toronto’s History on June 26, 2023. Dedicated fans were thrilled about his long-awaited return, as his last Toronto performance dates back to 2018. A second show was slated the following day as tickets sold out.

Ryan Trey opened up the night as a last-minute addition to the line-up. He’s an R&B singer-songwriter co-signed by Tiller in 2018. Followed by DJ Nitrane boosted the atmosphere with a mixed assortment of trap, R&B, and hip-hop tracks to set the tone. According to Nitrane, Toronto was been the best crowd on the tour, proven by their upbeat vibe and great sense of finishing song lyrics. As a treat, he then played an unreleased Bryson Tiller song that will likely be included in Bryson’s upcoming album.

Shortly after, Bryson made his way to the stage, noticeably in line with the retro arcade-themed production, rocked a Ghostbuster fitted hat, a Selena tee under his denim shirt, and a pair of Nike Air Mags on his feet. The first couple of songs performed were poorly lit, assuming that was intended, but as his set progressed, the lighting got better as various visual light elements were used on each song. Aside from the visuals, everyone also enjoyed the song placements as they were emotionally taken back in time through performances of songs like For However Long, Exchange, and Don’t from his 2015 debut album T R A P S O U L. Sticking to his style of exploring the topics of love, emotions overflowed throughout the venue. Switching up the tone, he also sang Maria Maria by Carlos Santana acapella, transitioning to Wild Thoughts, which samples the Santana track. And in typical Tiller fashion, he ended his set with Right My Wrongs, the perfect send-off track for any R&B lovers.

Overall, his impact was felt through his devoted fan base. His unique style puts him amongst modern R&B greats. This serves as a reminder of his potential; a new era is about to come when his new album drops.
