4 Ways to Find More Hours in the Day

Trying to fit all your daily tasks into your waking hours can be tricky.

Between work and family responsibilities, most of us have schedules that are packed full to practically bursting. However, it’s important that you still take time to take care of yourself.

If you’re thinking, ‘how will I ever find the time for that?’, here are four ways to squeeze more time out of each day.

Plan with a Time Management App

Having good time management doesn’t come easy to us all. However, there are things you can do to help you improve your time management skills.

Apps such as Todoist will allow you to organize your time better, set up tasks, assign them to others, and set reminders. When you can see a list of everything you do and have the ability to tick them off when they’re complete, you’ll start to feel less overwhelmed.

Cut Out the Commute

Commuting to and from work or university can take up a large part of your day.

However, if the pandemic taught us anything, it was that many of our jobs can be done from the comfort of our own homes.

Similarly, with a distance learning provider, such as Anglia Ruskin University, you can study on a schedule that suits your needs and without having to travel to and from lectures.

Once you’ve said goodbye to long commutes, you can reassign that time. Either invest it in your other commitments, or use that time to focus on self-care – it can be easy to neglect our wellbeing when we’re busy, but it’s essential that we make time for ourselves.

Try Meal Subscription Boxes

The weekly food shop can be a trying experience, especially during the supermarket’s busiest hours.

However, with a meal subscription box, such as those supplied by Gousto, you can choose your weekly meals and have the ingredients delivered to your door.

Similarly, most supermarkets offer a delivery service, so if you aren’t impressed by the range offered in a meal subscription, you can have your weekly shop sent to you instead. After all, adding things to an online shopping basket is a lot less time-consuming than going to the shop!

Prioritize Your Tasks and Delegate

You don’t have to do every task yourself, and not every task has to be done right away.

List out everything you need to do in a day – perhaps set aside some time the night before so you aren’t rushing in the morning – and then number the list in order of priority. That way, the most essential tasks will be completed first, even if they aren’t the most enjoyable.

And remember, you shouldn’t have to do everything yourself. Make sure your partner is pulling their weight with the household chores, and if you have children, teach them responsibility but delegate smaller jobs to them.

Have you managed to squeeze more hours out of the day? Tell us how you did it in the comments below!
