According to one Flywire survey, a whopping 7 out of 10 travellers will spend more on travel in 2022 than in the past five years. While this certainly highlights an upcoming spike in travel, many may have a serene destination like the Greek islands in their upcoming vacation plans. From nature-filled activities like climbing a mountain to sailing Greek waters and learning about the abundance of rich history that the islands have to offer, here are just three idyllic Greek adventures that are worth adding to any vacation bucket list.

Fine tastes in Mykonos

Said to be the location where the battle between Zeus and the Titans took place, Mykonos is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations for Greek island vacations, perhaps because there is plenty to do —  especially if you enjoy the finer things. For example, enjoying a drink at Scorpios Mykonos will allow you to experience a Mykonian sunset like no other, not to mention the abundance of picturesque beach spots that warrant the packing of several swimsuits and accessories. Fine dining institutions like Interni are also an option when looking for the best cultural food experience, one of the first fine-dining restaurants on the island.

The wonders of Mount Zeus

Mount Zeus, standing an impressive 3,290 feet tall, is the highest mountain in the Cyclades. While the view alone is reason enough to make the trek, hiking along a trail past ancient stone walls and olive groves will lead you to a rocky peak, where you’ll be able to get a breathtaking and picturesque view fit for any traveller looking for an ideal hike. Not only that, but those interested in Greek mythology will undoubtedly appreciate the history behind the mountain as well, making the hike that much more meaningful. In fact, according to Greek mythology, Zeus was raised in a cave on Mount Zeus, hence the name.

Wine tasting —  and more —  in Santorini

The southernmost island in the Cyclades, Santorini (also known by its official name, Thiria), has no shortage of adventurous things to do for those who choose to add the island to their itinerary. In fact, with wine being a major industry on the island, visiting the wineries on your own or opting for an organized tour are great ways to experience wine tasting. For those who are looking to pair an adventurous activity with wine tasting, however, taking a boat tour and seeing a volcano is the perfect way to spend any day. With the ability to swim in the Aegean Sea and relax in the hot springs, there’s something for everyone in Santorini, whether you crave nature or relaxation.

If you’re planning an idyllic island vacation, look no further than the Greek islands. With plenty to do —  from hiking the iconic Mount Zeus to packing your days full of adventures like boat rides in Santorini, there’s no question that you’ll have the vacation of a lifetime no matter what you choose to do.
