Winter may bring cozy knits and hot drinks, but for our skin, but that sense of comfort doesn’t always extend to our skin. Between icy winds, low humidity, and blasting heaters, skin can quickly feel tight, dull, and depleted. It’s important to understand what your skin needs to stay healthy and comfortable through the coldest months.  Here are just a few tips to carry you through until the first bloom of spring.

Sunscreen is still a necessity

Even if clouds cover the sky more often than not, sunscreen should still be a part of any daily skincare routine if you spend any time outside.  The suns rays can penetrate the gloomiest of days and affect your skin.  So don’t put that sunscreen away just because summer is long gone.  This tinted sunscreen from Vasanti feels light and comfortable on the skin while evening tone.  Its 100% mineral formula provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection while improving the texture and appearance of skin, perfect for use all year round.

Change up your facewash for the season

One of the kindest things you can do for your skin is to cleanse it every night before bed.  SPF and other impurities will build up as you go about your life, and nothing feels nicer than a freshly washed face. During the winter, consider switching from a foaming cleanser that may feel drying, to an oil cleanser like this one from Nuvsio.  The Skin Optimized Cleansing Oil is applied on dry skin and works to dissolve makeup and anything else without stripping or over-cleansing the skin, leaving it ready for the rest of your night time routine.

Stay hydrated

Winter temperatures and artificial heat can really suck the moisture out of your skin.  It’s important to hydrate inside and out during the colder months.  So drink a few extra glasses of water and incorporate moisture focused products into your skincare routine, morning and night.   Vivier’s Age Defying Moisturizer comes in both day and nighttime formula, and both are ideal for winter wear.  The Daily Age-Defying Moisturizer is featherlight yet potent, enriched with antioxidants to hydrate, smooth, and reinforce the skin barrier, all without heaviness. The Nightly Age-Defying Moisturizer is a rich, replenishing cream that strengthens the moisture barrier, improves radiance.  This advanced nighttime treatment formula includes Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid to support overnight repair.

Upgrade your routine with serum

Serums are a power packed way to deliver the benefits of important skincare ingredients.  A hydration focus serum can help keep skin feeling comfortable and more hydrated through the winter months.  A moisturizing serum like Alastin’s HA IMMERSE Serum works to deliver more moisture with a clinically-proven formula that utilizes a pure form of hyaluronic acid, high-molecular weight HA. Use in addition to any other products already in your routine morning or night (under your sunscreen or moisturizer).

Stay safe and warm this winter, and most importantly, take care of the skin you’re in, no matter what the season.
