Scrubs in the City Mexico City to take over Evergreen Brick Works

For one night a year, Evergreen Brick Works transforms into another geographical setting all in the name of fundraising. The longstanding Scrubs in the City event, supporting Sick Kids hospital is a highlight in Toronto. This year, on June 6th, Evergreen Brick Works will become Mexico City through sights, sounds and flavours for an amazing cause.

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada’s most research-intensive hospital and the largest centre dedicated to improving children’s health in the country.  With passionate and dedicated staff, SickKids is much more than a hospital. We work each day to provide the best in child and family-centred care, create ground-breaking clinical and scientific advancements, and train the next generation of experts in child health.

SickKids is not able to be the largest centre improving the health of children without major funding and support from our community. For over 20 years, Scrubs in the City has brought together Toronto’s finest for a themed party unlike any other. Last year, Scrubs in the City brought Mykonos, Greece, to the 6ix and raised $1.4 Million dollars.

This year, the Scrubs in the City committee has brought Mexico City to Toronto in hopes to raise even more money for the paramount hospital. Sylvia Mantella, from the core sponsor company Mantella Corporation tells us why she is always so excited for this event. “Mantella Corporation is very proud to be a continued supporter and lead sponsor for Scrubs in the City. I’ve had the honour of serving on the Scrubs in the City committee for over a decade and have witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact every dollar makes to Sick Kids Hospital.”

Committee member Lily Li also shares, “I am very honored to be part of the SickKids Scrubs in the City committee. Our goal is to raise essential funds to upgrade the Neuromodulation Navigation System and continue building a world-class children’s hospital in our city. I look forward to seeing everyone immersing themselves in the vibrant Mexico City themed-party and experiencing an unforgettable night of dancing and celebration, all in support of SickKids!”

Scrubs in the City, presented by Holt Renfrew, is always chalk-full of activations, photo opportunities, decadent foods, a robust silent auction and more dancing than you can imagine!

Candice Sinclair, another long-time committee member tells us that she absolutely loves being part of the most fun event of the summer season because of who it brings together. “It brings together a community of passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference in the lives of sick and injured children. This year, our event is funding state-of-the-art neurosurgery and neurodiagnostic lab equipment to help heal the future. The incredible work done at SickKids inspires me, and being part of this cause allows me to witness firsthand the positive impact we can have on young lives. It’s a privilege to support such a vital institution and be part of an event that combines a lot of fun with philanthropy.”

Tickets are almost sold out! Find your favourite Mexico City inspired outfits, and be prepared to have a blast while helping save lives!
