Get glowing skin just in time party season

Body skincare can be easy to neglect, but it truly is our body’s largest organ and deserves better treatment.  Not to worry, I’ve pulled together some tips and recommendations for you to care for your skin from neck to toe, and to get that glow as we ease into party season (basically now until New Year’s Eve, let’s be real).

Exfoliation isn’t just for the face

As summer comes to an end, it’s a great time to give skin a much needed refreshing in the form of some gentle exfoliation.  Alpha Skin Care are experts in that area, and their flagship body products, the anti-aging moisturizing Body Wash with 10% Glycolic Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and the Renewal Body Lotion that is formulated with 12% Glycolic Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).  The former works to gently release dead skin cells and reveal fresh, healthy, younger-looking skin in the bath or shower, while the latter works to thoroughly hydrate and gently exfoliate.  My skin has felt softer from head to toe, and I love the extra exfoliating I get on my elbows and knees when I focus the lotion on those areas.

Don’t forget about feet

If you’re like me and have spent nearly every summer day in sandals or flip flops, your feet can definitely use some extra care before baring them in strappy sandals or other party shoes.  I love this Foot mask and accompanying cream from world famous foot experts Dr. Scholls.  These foot masks are infused with an alpha hydroxy complex & essential oils to help soften & exfoliate rough, dry, flaky skin, leaving skin feeling silky smooth & soft within days.  The photos on the package do not lie, your skin will literally peel right off, tho the peeling effect will take a bit more time to kick in than you may think.  Once it starts, it’s unmistakable, and while that may sound disconcerting at the very least, the soft, revived skin the peel reveals is well worth it.

Fake it til you make (your tan that is)

We’re not here to suggest you take your skin’s safety for granted but we also love the look of a back from vacation tan.  The solution? The iconic self tanning brand St Tropez. Made famous by the slew of celebs who swear by St. Tropez spray tans, this company has made it easy to achieve that glow right at home and right in time for party season.  I love their Classic Bronzing Mousse for a full body tanned look, and their Purity Face Mist for a more gradual glow. If you’re after that professionally applied finish, GoGlow Spray Tanning is another great option.

Lotion as a love language

As the weather gets colder, our skin will need some extra love in the form of moisture and protection.  I love a nice lotion with my top 2 criteria being non-greasy softness and a scent made to delight.  Made with shea and cocoa butter, this Lemon scented lotion from JR Watkins hits all the marks for me and more, and I love smelling like dessert if only temporarily.
