On August 7 2026, Metric stopped at Toronto’s RBC AMPHITHEATRE for the last show of the first leg of their All The Feelings Tour. Returning to their hometown, the band connected with their roots with a sold out audience of 16,000.
The band is made of James Shaw on guitar, Joules Scott-Key on drums, Joshua Winstead on bass, and Emily Haines wrapping it together as the lead vocalist. The quartet work in perfect harmony, and create an undeniably excellent performance.
Before getting into Metric’s set, I can’t skip past the fantastic openers. Beginning the show was another Toronto band, Stars. Though they played just a nine song set, every song was played at its best, and put the audience right in the action, getting them ready for more to come. My personal favourite of their set was Elevator Love Letter. After Stars got the crowd on their feet, Broken Social Scene came up next to continue the action. Coming out hot with Cause = Time, and jumping through twelve songs, which included KC Accidental and Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl which had Haines of Metric join on vocals, the band brought nothing but greatness.
After Stars and Broken Social Scene got the crowd more than alive, Metric came on and knocked them dead. Starting off with a dazzling back to back to back of Victim of Luck, Oh Please, and Youth Without Youth, before jumping around a large selection of their catalogue, including All Comes Crashing, Gimme Sympathy, Breathing Underwater, which was accompanied by Amy Millan, and Synthetica that had Broken Social Scene’s horn section join the stage.
After nearly thirty years, and ten studio albums, including their April release Romanticize the Dive, they are more of a family than they are bandmates. This found family dynamic stretches further than the four members of Metric, and was shown as the concert closed. After wrapping up an incredible encore of Help I’m Alive and Black Sheep, Haines welcomed every member of Stars and Broken Social Scene back to the stage for group hugs that was met with a standing ovation throughout the entire venue.
Though the first leg of the All The Feelings Tour has finished, Metric will continue touring through the United Kingdom and Europe before returning to Canada later this year. Learn more about the tour on their website.
