The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, starring John Turturro, Giancarlo Esposito, and Steve Buscemi feels like a film version of the old adage: you can’t teach an old dog new tricks — and for Harry Lehman, played by Turturro, you don’t need any new tricks or gadgets.
The film follows Harry, a pickpocket living in New York who is also caring for his paralyzed and mute wife. When he accidentally steals the USB drive with cryptocurrency on it belonging to the grandson in a crime family, his life is turned upside down. Harry must navigate the old New York streets while trying to understand what he has accidentally stolen, relocating it and hoping his wife does not get harmed in the aftermath. As you follow Harry’s path to find the lost cryptocurrency, you learn about his past, his family, and why he chooses to be a pickpocket.
The film has a lot of heart and grace with standout performances by Turturro and Buscemi with accurately annoying and hip younger actors to ruffle feathers.
The film is out October 30th in theatres.
