The Weeknd’s Triumphant Canadian Sold-Out Shows

The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye, is on his After Hours Til Dawn tour and has been playing to sold out crowds for months.

Recently The Weeknd performed across Canada setting stages ablaze, literally. His show celebrates the span of his work, with the singer performing older hits like House of Balloons, new hits like Timeless and his iconic feature on the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack Call Out My Name. Crowds screamed songs during acapella moments, and with the light up wrist bands – the crowd itself were part of the show’s entire visuals.

The stage is built like a cross with a deity in the centre. Dancers in red cloaks reminiscent of The Handmaid’s Tale dance in unison as fire balls warmed the arena. In Toronto, the Rogers Centre dome opened for fans, bringing Tesfaye to recall Blue Jays games in his home town in the very same location. Tesfaye engaged with the crowd, walking up to sections and having them sing and waving to his fans. In Toronto, he was celebrated with a key to the city and fireworks every night of his show – which still has a few more dates.

In Toronto, both Mike Dean and Kaytranada had DJ sets leading up to The Weeknd which were high energy and the perfect set up for an amazing night with The Weeknd.

The Weeknd’s tour ends September 3rd. Go here for tickets. And check out our review of one of the Toronto stops here.
