Mark Munroe harnesses the power of social media to help change the lives of youth who are homeless or at risk

This may be shocking, but we all need to be aware to help make a difference. Thousands of youth in Canada experience homelessness and sex trafficking each year.

Youth homelessness in Canada has reached crisis proportions. Over 6,000 young people are experiencing homelessness in our country on any given night, which is beyond heartbreaking even to consider.

And in the case of sex trafficking, it is a growing crime in Canada that is often under-reported, under-estimated and largely misunderstood. Over 30 percent of female youth who stay at Covenant House have been involved in some form of the sex industry, including trading sex for food.

For 40 years, Covenant House Toronto has been helping youth ignite their potential and reclaim their lives. As Canada’s largest agency serving youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk, they offer the broadest range of 24-7 services to an average of 280 young people each day.

As a national leader, they educate and advocate for long-term changes to improve the lives of vulnerable youth. This includes influencing public policy, leading awareness and prevention programs, and continually building and sharing their knowledge. As a learning organization, they strive for excellence and programs with impact.

But, to continue their efforts, they need the publics help to raise much-needed funds and awareness for their fundraising efforts like Main Mission, The Covenant House Sleepout and many more.

Main Mission makes Covenant House’s mission of supporting youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk possible. It is an incredible season-long charity stream/social media campaign that unites professional gamers, content creators and veteran & aspiring streamers to help raise funds and awareness for these inspiring young people.

For the second year in a row, Mark Munroe (our editor-in-chief and co-creator) will participate!

From March 1st to May 15th, 2023, the Community Stream Campaign takes place. Mark Munroe will leverage his social media following, posting content and going live to raise funds for Covenant House Toronto on Instagram and Tiktok.

The final mission will see the community come together to raise funds and have maximum fun!

As mentioned, Mark Munroe is one of many fundraising for those of you looking to support this year, so If you’re able, please donate to support a cause very close to my heart; Mark is looking to raise awareness and $2500, but he needs your help to get there.

Donations can be made HERE, contributions can be as little as $5 or as much as you can give, and we know he will appreciate each and every one, and so will the youth that utilizes Covenant House and its much-needed services and programs.
