As consumers navigate sustainability, many people are tired of the same type of platforms popping up everywhere. Shoppers are inundated with eco-friendly sections of stores, being urged to thrift, find vintage pieces, or to shop consignment. All of this treasure hunting can be exhausting to some, who has led to luxury resellers cropping up online. Though there are several to choose from, The NOBO by Noelle Bonner is offering a unique experience for shoppers and is finally bringing the experience to Canada.

The Nobo was founded by Bonner, who is a Communications expert, as a means to offer more value to those shopping pre-loved fashion. Bonner tells us what she anticipates being the key to The Nobo’s success is their ‘swap’ feature. “The first real difference is that we’re online. You can list an item from the comfort of your home, from the comfort of your closet. We want to try and make it as easy as possible for you to start the process, to get your items kind of out there to the world, to make a home in someone else’s closet. You can list to sell or you can list to swap. Listening to SWAP is really our unique element that no other platform has. It allows you to create more value. You list an item, take photos at home and you send the photos to us to get a virtual review. Once we approve it that gives you a shipping label. You send your item to us for in person authe authentication. Once we receive your item and approve it and authenticate it, we assign you what we call ‘NOBO cash’ to your account. We immediately give you cash credit value in your account that you can use to shop other swap products on the platform.” Further to earning NOBO cash by swapping, participants can earn NOBO cash for using the community features. “You can earn while you engage on the platform as well. We have a style feed, which kind of functions like a social media platform. iIt builds our community, allows you to invite your friends to the NOBO. It allows you to follow other users that you love, their closets or what they’re selling or what they have available in their swap closets. So as you engage on your style feed, you actually can earn NOBO cash. We want to reward you for being an engaged member of our NOBO Insider community.”

Bonner collaborated with Noronha Inc to bring the launch of NOBO in Canada to life. While previously the platform was only available in the US, Bonner has grown the community to include Canada meaning people can shop and swap on either side of the border! The launch dinner, at Akira Back, was a beautiful family style dinner featuring prolific women such as Emmy winning journalist Patricia Jaggernauth, Fashion Canada magazine publisher Deidre Marinelli, influencers Lily Yange, Afiya Francisco and Safinaaz Rawji as well as many other women in the luxury retail space.

Guests dined, drank, and all wore a sustainable outfit which was described to the table as a perfect ice breaker. The guests left with goody-bags including Estée Lauder cream, MAC Makeup, a Prada perfume, locally made chocolates, and more while also being encouraged to join The NOBO and grow the community.
