Canadian television is currently riding a very high wave. The latest addition to the list? Canada Shore – A spin off of the Jersey Shore franchise and it’s so bad that it’s actually amazing!
To be clear, what’s bad about Canada Shore is not the show or the production itself but mainly these young adults’ behaviour. Canada Shore, brought to us through MTV Entertainment and Paramount + has cast 10 young Canadians and put them in a mansion in Kelowna, BC. The production quality is quite high – Snooki guest appears in the first few episodes, the mansion is gorgeous, the excursions the cast go on are quite epic.
The cast consists of 5 guys and 5 girls: Gizelle from Mississauga, ON, Ryleigh from Bridgewater, NS, Keyaira from Halifax, NS, Emmy from Fredericton, NB, Lila from Toronto, ON, Emmett from BC, Bauer from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Isaiah from Calgary, AB, Chris from Toronto, ON and Ethan from Newmarket, ON. The cast, just like in Jersey Shore, need to work to be able to party and complete odd jobs in the first episodes like working a fruit stand and working at rib fest.

The best part of the show, of course, is the drama. Episode one sees drama unfolding between Keyaira and Emmy over Bauer, sparks fly between Isaiah and Gizelle, as well as Ryleigh and Emmett, and maybe also Lila and Ethan. It seems everyone in the house is shacking up except Chris, who is the only seemingly queer person in the house but based on teasers – his time to shine will unfold in due time. In the first two episodes, which are already out, the cast are mostly nice to each other, have family dinner, and seem to already be embracing feeling like family, a sentiment which continued at the premiere and after party held in Toronto.

I was able to sit down with the East Coast baddies Ryleigh, Keyaira and Emmy and discuss some east coast treasures, the best east coast beaches to skinny dip in and how excited they were to meet Snooki. Watch the interview here and make sure to catch the drama unfolding in Kelowna on Paramount +.
