House of Harm: A Night of Post-Goth Energy in Toronto

House of Harm, the enigmatic dark wave trio hailing from Boston, Massachusetts,  treated a captivated Toronto audience to a mesmerizing performance on September 22, 2025. The air in The Dance Cave was thick with anticipation as the band brought their AT LAST Tour and its signature nostalgic sound to the intimate venue. The crowd was utterly Soaked In Pastel—a nod to the evocative, faded hues that colour the band’s aesthetic and music.

Setting the perfect, brooding mood for the night was the Toronto-based, post-goth duo Modele. Their opening set was a masterclass in modernizing the iconic sounds of ’80s Grunge, delivering a raw and captivating performance that primed the audience for the headliner.

When House of Harm took the stage, they immediately transported the crowd. The band’s music has been described as a Carousel of emotions, a sonic journey that evokes a specific, powerful feeling. As vocalist Michael Rocheford described in a recent interview with ADDICTED Magazine leading up to the tour, their sound aims to make you feel like “You’re on a beach at the end of Summertime, through the lens of an old camera.” This profound sense of wistful, faded memory is achieved through their precise use of reverb-drenched guitars, driving synthetic bass lines, and Rocheford’s echoing, earnest vocals.

The performance showcased the meticulous crafting of their sound, a beautiful blend of melancholy and rhythmic intensity. The synergy between Rocheford, his bandmates, and the devoted fans was palpable, turning The Dance Cave into a temporary sanctuary for those who crave the atmospheric textures of classic dark wave and new wave.

Check out the interview done via video chat with Michael Rocheford on Youtube.
