TESTED: The Unscented Company

This past fall, my partner and I stayed at an Airbnb in the country to get away from the busy city, and while visiting, we used the shampoo that the host left. That shampoo was made by The Unscented Company. The shampoo was simple, fragrance-free and did a great job cleaning my hair and leaving it fresh without drying my scalp (like so many do).

At that time, I made a note to contact The Unscented Company to learn more and ultimately test their collection of products to share my findings with you, as I have for over nine years. Where does the time go?

In 2016 The Unscented Company launched a complete line of unscented home and body care on two founding principles. Firstly, redefine the notion of clean by offering exclusively unscented all-natural products. Secondly, design packaging for conscious living by allowing consumers the ability to refill their bottles either at home or in-store.

We tested their soap bar, TUC x LeBicar Kliin Reusable Cleaning Cloth, all-purpose cleaner, hand soap, dish soap, laundry tabs, and dryer balls. So, let’s begin.

Soap Bar:

These fully biodegradable soap bars are made from pure vegetable glycerin, and while they might start off as a dry bar, they lather quickly and easily. The soap bars are preservative, fragrance and dye-free, so you know it’s safe for you and your family and does a great job cleaning up.

The soap bars are made of Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Sodium Gluconate, Palm Acid, and Sodium Chloride, Palm Kernel Acid and is never tested on animals.

All-Purpose Cleaner:

The perfect sidekick to tackle your chores! This all-purpose cleaner is a must-have for your everyday cleaning in the kitchen, bathroom, or anywhere else in the house. Fragrance, dye and phosphate-free, we loved this product throughout testing.

It’s tough on stains and grime while being truly a great multi-purpose cleaner. Even better, the trigger sprayer has no metal parts, and all its plastic parts are 100% recyclable, along with the bottle.

800 ml (27 fl oz) – $5.75

Laundry Tabs:

One less bottle is needed every time you buy The Unscented Company laundry tabs. It’s another step towards eliminating single-use plastics. Not only that, but each tab also prevents waste. You get the perfect quantity every wash, and with the ease of no measuring or messy liquids.

Comfortable in High Efficiency (HE) washing machines and efficient in cold water (starting at ten °C), these earth-friendly laundry tabs will keep your favourite clothing clean and fresh.

For naturally clean laundry, place a portion of your clothes in the drum of your washing machine, add the tablet, then add the rest of your clothes. One tab for regular use. Two for larger or dirtier loads.

Net Wt 700 g (1.54 lb) – $13.99

Dryer Balls:

A natural, earth-friendly and long-lasting substitute for liquid and sheet fabric softener. It prevents static cling, reduces drying time by 25%, softens naturally, and reduces wrinkles.

Toss 2 or 3 balls in your dryer with your laundry, and presto! The dryer balls are made of pure natural South-American wool from free-range sheep, which means they are safe for cloth diapers and sensitive skin.
