5 Ways to Cool Off on a Hot Summer Day

Yes, summer is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful seasons and many people’s favourite, but you know what? Too high temperatures often make it completely unbearable, which is why we’re looking for effective ways to cool off and make our lives much easier. Here are five such ways that’ll help you accomplish that, so check them out and enjoy!

Drink lots and lots of water

Proper hydration is absolutely essential when the temperatures go through the roof,  which is exactly why you need to drink a lot of water on a daily basis, without exceptions. Did you know that sweating is your body’s way of cooling you down? We bet that you didn’t, so don’t forget that and thank your body the next time you start to sweat, no matter how unappealing it may be. Cold water is your best friend during summer as can lower your core temperature, which means that the feeling of coolness will last for a little while. Unsweetened herbal tea is also a good idea, but make sure to avoid coffee since it’s a diuretic and can have dehydrating effects.

Take part in water sports

Needless to say, water sports have always been people’s absolute favourites during summer – which is particularly the case with adrenaline addicts who love to get wild during the hottest season. The first water sport you should take into consideration is surfing because riding the waves is one of the best ways to cool off while having the time of your life. The same goes for snorkeling, and the only thing you need is quality snorkeling gear that includes a good mask which will allow you to breathe properly while enjoying the underwater world from the surface of the water. One thing is certain – you won’t make a mistake whichever water sport you go for!

Take a freezer pack to bed

Yes, we know that it sounds silly, but guess what? Taking a freezer pack to bed really works, so give it a fair shot and you’ll see what we were talking about! All you have to do is to take a freezer pack out of the freezer, wrap it in a washcloth, put it in a water-tight Ziploc bag, and take it to bed with you. As simple as that! Of course, it won’t stay cold all night long, but it will help you cool off as soon as you get into bed. The only thing left is to put it back into the freezer in the morning!

Take a cold shower or a bath

Taking a cold shower is another amazing way to cool off on a hot summer day, so be sure to give it a try if you can’t think of a different way to do it. Even though this is one of the most basic things to do, you must know that it definitely does the trick, so jump into the shower and pour cold water all over your body. In fact, you should probably start off fairly warm and then reduce the temperature until the water is quite cold. It also applies if you have a bathtub instead of a shower, so enjoy a nice, cool bath and reduce your core temperature with success!

Draw the curtains against the sun

Last but not least, drawing the curtains or blinds against the sun is another thing that really helps – especially when the sunlight is bringing in a lot of heat from the outdoors. The truth is that a beam of sunlight can heat up your home without you even realizing it, so don’t let that happen and draw those curtains where the direct sunlight is hitting the windows. The amount of heat will be drastically reduced this way, which will also help you stay cool on a hot summer day. Does it get better than that? We don’t think so!
