Welcome to Until Further Notice, a digital speakeasy for unusual times

Is anyone else feeling nostalgic about the good ol’ days?  The days when you could go outside and get a glass of wine or cocktail and not worry about contracting a plague or breaking a bylaw? When choosing your favourite ice cream flavour was the most challenging decision you had to make? You can’t see it, but I’m raising my hand enthusiastically along with you. If you’re looking for ways to destress and regress, I’ve got a place for you to go, without ever leaving home.

Until Further Notice is a special spot you can go to without ever leaving the house.  With bars and restaurants forced to close here in Toronto and around the world, it became very clear very fast that my friends and colleagues in hospitality were losing their livelihoods, and my friends and colleagues who enjoyed hospitality were losing their outlets and comfortable spaces.  With that in mind, Until Further Notice was born, to become a space that would highlight hospitality, community, humour and creativity, the essence of a good bartender and a great bar. With cocktail recipes crafted by creative mixologists, eye popping photos of said cocktails and a vision to raise funds and provide supports for those struggling as their industry works to stay afloat, Until Further Notice is a place to learn, connect and hopefully sip and smile together, while staying apart.

Since taking a shower feels sooooo 2019, why not slip into something a little more palatable with a custom bourbon recipe. Rub a dub dub, thank god for old tub.  Transport yourself to simpler times with an elevated take on an ice cream float with the Old Tub Hot Apple Cider. Old Tub has a clean finish with lingering warmth, just like a good bubble bath.

 

Ingredients:

✣ 2 oz. Old Tub

✣ 4 oz. Spiced Apple Cider, Heated

✣ 2 Cinnamon Sticks

✣ 4 Cloves

✣ 1 Tea Bag (Orange Pekoe or Earl Grey)

✣ 1 scoop Vanilla Ice Cream

 

Instructions:

To make apple cider, combine sweetened apple cider, two cinnamon sticks, and four cloves in a small saucepan and bring to boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add one teabag. Allow to simmer for 4 minutes and then strain.

Combine Old Tub with 4 oz. of the hot apple cider in a coffee mug or specialty coffee glass and top with ice-cold vanilla ice cream.
