Welcome to Regulars – the chill local bar you’ve been looking for

If I were to describe Regulars to someone, I would say it’s Drake’s version of the bar in Cheers, right here in Toronto.  And it would seem that exactly what they’re going for.

In September of 2018, Regulars took over the beautiful heritage building at the corner of King and Bathurst, taking the formerly swanky sushi spot and turning it into one of Toronto’s coolest, yet somehow most welcoming, nightlife destinations.

Regulars recently help me host my birthday party, giving me and some friends a chance to experience their food, cocktails and even their bottle service offering.  It was pretty much exactly what I needed for this year’s celebration of aging – great drinks, delicious food, awesome music and a chill vibe to just be myself, with my favorite people around me.  I embraced my former and occasional inner party girl, busted out a new outfit, pulling friends from all corners of my life together, and we just let Regulars do what it does best; welcome me and mine with open arms, giving us the fun night out we’ve been craving, without even realizing it.

The Food

Regulars culinary offering is exactly what you’d expect from walking into the space: a sophisticated take on a sports bar menu.  Everything just tastes a little more grown up, even your standard nachos, burgers and wings.  On my recent visit we sampled the nachos, served on a metal tray in one thin layer, ensuring a healthy chip to topping ratio, something a nacho enthusiast like myself really appreciated.  We also sampled their wings, deep fried buttermilk cauliflower and their delicious jerk shrimp, among other nighttime nibbles, and everything was delectably delicious.

The Drinks

Regulars has the standard sports bar fair when it comes to beers, be they in bottles, cans or on tap, but a cocktail or spirit enthusiast will find their needs quite well met as well.  The cocktail menu is impressive without being intimidating, offering a variety of flavor and spirit combinations to please beginner to expert level cocktail sippers.  My favorite is the Thyme for Tequila, a fragrant blend of pomegranate, lavender and of course, thyme, fortified with Aperol and Cazadores Tequila.

The Vibes

Regulars’ gift is in making you feel like a VIP, while also making you feel right at home.  It’s that combination of relaxed yet attentive service, elevated yet accessible cuisine and a sophisticated yet comfortable vibe that has made Regulars the go to spot for some of the brightest stars and coolest characters when they pass through Toronto.

From Sean Paul to Shawn Mendes, Austin Matthews to Lennox Lewis, the entire Toronto Raptors Championship Lineup (yes, including Kwahi Leonard, Danny Green and my dream man Serge Ibaka), and of course the 6ix prince himself, Drake, the level of talent that passed through Regulars’ doors is pretty impressive.  And the vibe is just as chill when they’re hanging with their pals as it was when I was there celebrating my birthday with my crew.

If you’re looking for a spot to host your next birthday, to watch sports with your pals or to just have a fun night out with no pretention or expectation, Regulars is the place to go.  You can even host your holiday party at Regulars, or in their private upstairs space Loft 668. Also, they get that there’s a mad hustle in Toronto, so they won’t come after your wallet for a night out.  Regulars offers an amazing deal every night of the week, including  $20 Rosé Bottles on Mondays, $5 Bearface whisky on Tuesdays (see you there!) and $1 per oz. wine for Wine Wednesdays, all the way to a stacked Latin Sunday, with $5 Mimosas/Caesars during the day and $5 Siempre Tequila by night.  So what are you waiting for?  Check the bar where everyone may not know your name (yet), but they’ll always be glad you came.  See you at Regulars!
