In an effort to continue cutting down on waste, on my daily bad habits and on polluting the earth, my search turned to my laundry habits, specifically, the products I used to wash my clothing, sheets and towel.
For years now, I’ve used a well-known laundry brand that was available at the store, not thinking much into it, until it was brought to my attention the chemicals used, the waste involved due to the bottle, shipping, and production. Upon further investigation, I wanted to go into my laundry closet and throw it all out, but that would also be bad, so here’s what I did.
I used up the rest of my old detergent and then made the switch to where my research for something better lead me, Tru Earth.
What if we didn’t have to waste a new bottle every time we bought new detergent? What if we could fit ten times more detergent into the truck they are shipped in? What if there was a laundry detergent that wasn’t bad for your skin and was healthy for the environment? Well, that would be Tru Earth.
Tru Earth is the eco-friendly choice for so many reasons. No big bottles, the packaging is biodegradable, and the laundry detergents are:
- Paraben-free
- Phosphate-free
- Free of added dyes
- Free of chlorine bleach
- Free of 1,4-dioxane, as certified by independent laboratory tests
- Readily biodegradable in accordance with OECD 310D
- Hypoallergenic, certified by independent dermatologists
- Vegan: no animal-based ingredients or testing on animals
- Manufactured in Canada
Not only that, with the eco strips, there is no pouring, spilling or guessing how much detergent you need, small-medium load, one strip, big load, two strips. Pop a strip into the empty washer, add the items for the wash, and begin. It’s genuinely that easy.
We tested both the fragrance-free and the Fresh Linen Eco-Strips laundry detergent and loved them. They leave your clothes clean and fresh, without heavy scent or added chemicals. Until now, my skin has reacted every other time I’ve changed laundry detergent in the past, this time, no breakouts, no issues at all, just clean clothes without polluting the planet.
Now not only do we love the Eco-strips laundry detergent that Tru Earth makes, but we also tested and loved their eco-strips multi-surface cleaner as well.
Available in Lemon Fresh, these strips are not only easy breezy for storage, but they are also rather genius. Instead of buying a big bottle of cleaner each time you run out, with one empty reusable bottle, you roll up a strip and add in the bottle along with 250 ml’s of warm water, shake, and you’re ready to go. Not only that, but this pack allows you to do that eight times over!
The cleaner, like the detergent, works just as advertised. We cleaned the floors, counters, bathroom, living room. You name it, we cleaned it, and we found each time that the cleaner did a great job, even in the bathtub, one of the most challenging places to scrub clean.
Here are just a few more reasons to love the Tru Earth Eco-Strips Multi-Surface Cleaner.
- Disinfecting cleaning power kills 99.9% of bacteria, mold, fungi, and viruses.
- No More Single Use Plastic Cleaning Bottles – Add a strip to your existing bottle, add water and shake.
- Perfect For Mopping – Throw in a bucket or the sink
- Zero-waste compostable packaging
- Toss half a strip to clean your toilet
- Dissolves completely in hot water
- Lemon fresh scent
- It helps keep 2.5 billion plastic cleaning bottles out of landfills per year.
- (NOTE: Bottle not included)
Pretty impressive!
We love that not only are the products better for you and the plant, but the whole process from shipping to packaging to product is mindful of the impact on the environment and the world as a whole, and that’s what truly brings a smile to our face. Hopefully, using products that are not only easier, but better for the environment than the competition, will leave not only your clothes better, it will leave you feeling better as well.
