Toronto welcomes Levetto

Here in Toronto there are lots of great places to eat amazing food, from the higher end, all the way down to greasy diner food.  Often I find that most places are over priced or just aren’t what you are looking for.  I find this especially applies to my occasional yet powerful pasta and pizza cravings.  It’s just so hard to find amazing pasta and pizza that is authentic, well priced and comes as a hearty sized serving. So when I heard about Levetto, a restaurant that just recently opened in Toronto, boasted making really great pizza and pasta at “Fast foods Prices” I had to see for myself.

When I showed up on a Monday night, I noticed that the restaurant was clean, simply decorated and had a great open kitchen concept where chefs were carefully preparing food while interacting with guests that were placing orders.

After checking out the menu and starting on a glass of red wine, the tasting began, starting off with an Arugula salad with goat’s cheese, dried apricots and a white wine vinaigrette perfectly priced at only nine dollars.

Next we moved onto tasting two of the pizzas, starting with the Pollo Toscana (shown below) with all natural seasoned chicken breast, tomato pesto, Fior di Latte, red onion, sundried tomato, fresh basil, and also the Funghi with Portobello, oyster & cremini mushrooms with mascarpone, roasted garlic crema. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious, fresh and well made, not to mention both priced under nine dollars for a small.

Our third course was trying out some of the pastas that Levetto had to offer, starting with the Carbonara (pictured below) with Smoked bacon, cracked black pepper, egg, scallion, grana padano and the Cavatelli with Pea pesto, roasted red pepper, baby spinach, white truffle oil, and ricotta. Both were fantastic, hearty, huge portions and both under twelve dollars.

We also tasted some great desserts to finish off the meal including a sweet and perfect Panna Cotta.YUM.
