Looking at Tycho from all directions and heights, there’s a prevalent consistency. The album artwork compliments the music to perfection. The visuals that back the live performance is as intentional as can be. The reason is simple. All that one sees and hears from Tycho is the creation of producer/composer/photographer/designer, Scott Hansen. The aesthetic of the music and the visuals of Tycho share much; minimalism, organic warmth and a positive vibe. With each successive album, the strength of song has grown. Hansen’s latest, Epoch has a fitting title. While obviously in the Tycho vein of downtempo melodic electronic music, this album feels and sounds like a band-recorded album, opposed to a one-man studio project. The aforementioned growth was noticeable as the album was nominated for a Grammy this year.
2017 has been a year where Tycho has spend a third of their days on the road. This included a sold-out stop at Toronto’s Massey Hall on April 29th.
