Last Sunday at the Toronto International Film Festival, I had the opportunity to see the premier of This is Where I Leave You based on the novel by Jonathan Tropper and directed by Shawn Levy.
When their father dies, the Altman children (Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Corey Stoll), who are now all adults (well, in age at least), come home to morn the lost and spend time with their mother (Jane Fonda). Through the 7 days they spend together with each other and their significant others, ex’s, and the people who know and knew them best, in the midst of the mourning they are all forced to reflect on their own lives in this emotional, chaotic, and at times ridiculous story about a family healing each other. This is a rare movie that just might make you tear up, or even feel a little sad for what they are going through and the fact you have gone through it too. But most of all this movie will make you laugh, and if you are like me, you may have a sore face by the end because you enjoyed those funny moments so much.
So check out the trailer for yourself, and catch This is Where I Leave You September 19th in theatres.
