According to Mindy, “Mexican [themed] parties are a huge trend right now, and with the new restaurante line from Old El Paso you can make a great dinner for friends and family easily and quickly.”
The new line includes restaurant quality recipes for you to make Baja fish, Chicken tinga, and Steak Carne Asada in the comfort of your own home. The Addicted team had the chance to try out the whole new line and found that they were super easy to make, they were all really delicious and well thought out, and made for a really fun way to enjoy a night of Mexican cuisine with friends or family. Really, is there anything better then having great food with even better people?
So next to having some great food, we asked Mindy for some tips on throwing the perfect Mexican inspired party. First things first: keep things light and have fun with what you are doing! Mindy suggests having a “Guac off”. What’s that you ask? Well, as the host you ensure that you haveaa bunch of avocados on hand, and have your guests make their own special guacamole, using their favorite recipe, even including some special or secret ingredients. This little party game has the added benefit of giving you, the host, one less party snack to make, while giving your guests a fun and competitive activity to engage in. As well, no party is complete without some yummy cocktails to go along with the fun! You can could include margaritas (both virgin and regular), mojitos, or maybe some beach inspired, or even Mexican beers like Corona or Tecate, or my personal choice, tequila! Mindy also suggests having an open playlist, or several musical selections so your guest can hear and play some of their favorite songs. And the last great tip was fun little party favors, and what’s the perfect match for a Mexican themed party, maracas!
So the next time you are having people over, you should have them join you in your own little Mexican restorante.
