A couple years back I was introduced to almond milk and since I enjoy almonds, and I was never really a big fan of milk, the almond milk was the perfect addition to my daily routine. So when I heard thatSilk (famous for their delicious almond, soy and conout milks) was coming out with a Cashew Milk, I was very intrigued and just had to try it.
Silk Cashew has a delicious flavour and richness, without the heaviness I find in regular milk, while still having just as much calcium as dairy milk. As well, Silk Cashew only 60 calories per serving, 33% less calories than skim milk and is also an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D. With my newfound knowledge, I thought to myself: “What can I make with the cashew milk, that would it make it even better?”
First I tried it in coffee, and low and behold it took the coffee to another, delicious level. Shortly after I made a latte with the base of the cashew milk, also delicious. Really anywhere you use milk you can use this in it’s place, and for me it adds a really great flavour. It makes for amazing mashed potatoes, superb curries, works perfectly for my after workout shakes, in almost all baking, and would work well for smoothies or even making your own ice cream, which is something I’m going to try next as I think it would be amazing and low in calories.
So are you ready to try the new Silk Cashew? Want some more ideas or to learn where to pick it up for yourself? Check out the Silk Facebook page for yourself and let them know what you’ve been whipping up with Silk.
