From Yellowknife, Northwest Territories to Aarhus, Denmark, Diga traveled the circumpolar world to bring his music to new heights. Indie music, soft instrumentals, and his Cohen-esque voice come together in this collaborative album to reinventing the sounds of the North. The lyrics embrace Diga’s poetic sensibilities, describing an unknown world in the midst of modernity. Produced by Jan de Vroede, with guest Ralph Rarney (ao Tom Waits, Frank Black) and a hand assembled band, Yellowstone features songs in both English and Tilcho.
An award-winning artist Diga has previously been named Best Male Artist of the Year at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and been nominated for Aboriginal Album of the Year at the JUNOS, Canadian Folk Music Awards and Western Canadian Music Awards.
Released today, Digawolf’s Yellowstone challenges us to reimagine the musical landscape around us.
