The Choker – Resucitated

If you want to know what is in fashion just spend an hour on Instagram.. It will fill your brain with all “must have” trends for the season. I remember seeing a resurgence of the choker trend and I won’t deny it made me cringe. It was a so misused the first time around that I was so glad to see the fad fade. Admit it: the image of the stringy choker of the nineties popped into your head, and you cringed right along with me.

But jewelry designers recognized the need to update this once hit trend. One designer that perfected the rebirth of the modern choker is Paula Mendoza. Her modern take is characterized by the use of strong hardware that draws attention to the neck without CPR assistance!  It’s a definite statement piece, without the tacky and unflattering results that the previous choker attempt created decades ago.

I must admit, the price tag that attached to a designer choker is a tad over what I would pay for a “trend” so I found two variations at New York jewelery house thechiqjewelry.com that allow fashionistas to take part in this fashion rebirth with no long term price tag or buyer’s remorse.

What are your thoughts on the statement choker & would you wear it?  Tweet us at @weraddicted and let us know!
