TESTED: The BISSELL Crosswave Pet Pro

This weekend I TESTED out the new BISSELL Crosswave Pet Pro.

Designed with animals in mind, the BISSELL Crosswave Pet Pro is a wet/dry cleaning machine for just about any mess your pet can make.  It mops as it vacuums, picking up debris while washing the floor in its wake.  I have to admit, when I first heard about this machine I was a little skeptical.  A vacuum and a mop in one?  Sounds more like a home appliance identity crisis than something that can actually help me in my real life.  But that was before I TESTED it out.

When I received the vacuum, I was a little daunted by all the parts it came with.  I thought it would be hard to put together, and was concerned with how complicated the machine seemed to be.  But it took just a couple of minutes to put together and was actually intuitive enough that I needed only a couple of glances at the instructions to get it done.   The wet tank fills up from the tap, which is super easy, and you only need a small amount of the supplied cleaning solutions (they send 3 with the vacuum for different cleaning needs), and you’re good to go.  Once my new Crosswave was put together, it was time to put it to the test.

There was never a question that I’d have some pet messes for the Crosswave to tackle.  I live with two perma-cats (these handsome brothers from other mothers, Cash and Bowie) and in my work with Toronto Cat Rescue I occasionally (like now) have a foster cat or kitten in the mix.   Between 2-3 creatures in my apartment, there’s always something to be cleaned, especially around where they eat and where they…ya know.

Checking my trusty instructions again, I squeezed the trigger on the Crosswave handle until I saw some bubbles build around the roller brush in the mophead (they advise 10 seconds, but it took a little longer for me.)  From there, I let the machine do its work.  It only took a few passes to clean up the mess around the food and water dishes, a couple more to take care of some spite barf found under a table (cat owners, you know what I’m talking about).  And when it came to little box mess, it was such a relief to not have to get too up close and personal with the stuff that comes out of the business end of my furbabies.  I do recommend clearing any larger items that would clog up the vacuum, but there’s no need to bend over and scrub the remnants yourself, that’s what the Crosswave is for.  And for that alone, it’s worth its weight in gold.

When it came to clean up of the machine itself, BISSELL has even made that super easy on us too.  Between the Crosswave’s handy rinsing and storage tray and easy to open dirty water tank and roller cage, you can rinse out the machine’s insides, take everything apart to dry and store it out of site within minutes of cleaning up whatever grossness your pet has created.

For all of the above and more, the BISSELL Crosswave Pet Pro passes the test.  And for pet people who drive, and have more portable pets like dogs, try out the BISSELL Multi Cordless Handheld Car Vacuum.  Cordless, lightweight and portable, you can clean pet hair, food, and other debris out of your car just as easily as the Crosswave keeps your home pet mess free.  Anything to help me maintain my cool, and not crazy, cat lady facade, right?
