Support our Studios: Brass Vixens goes Virtual

The COVID-19 crisis has made life, and business, challenging for just about everyone.  One of the hardest hit industries has been fitness, specifically small, local studios.  Fitness studios were one of the first businesses to be asked to close due to social distancing guidelines, and the struggle, to put it mildly, has been real.

Struggle, however, does breed innovation.  Fitness businesses all over the world have launched virtual studios, leveraging teleconferencing solutions to take their classes online.  This way, studios can reach their students where they are, at home, keeping their virtual doors open, and meeting a growing demand for the health and wellness content that people need to stay sane in quarantine. One studio that’s lead the pack in virtual training in Toronto is Brass Vixens.

Brass Vixens is an entirely female owned and run pole fitness studio based in Toronto.  It’s an incredibly open and welcoming fitness environment that celebrates inclusion and body positivity in all their forms.  Brass Vixens’ clientele varies, from pole dancers to complete beginners, all coming together to embrace the fascination and fitness challenge that is pole dancing.  It was my fitness routine of choice before we all went into lockdown, and now I’ve registered at their new Brass Vixens Virtual Studio

No pole? No problem.  Knowing that not all their students are pole dancing die hards with home pole set ups, Brass Vixens is creating classes that require nothing more than you, a mat, some space and some shedding of inhibitions.  The Virtual Studio offering includes Chair Dance, Exotic Lap Dance, Flexy Vixens (my personal favorite sexy stretching class), Erotic Pole 1 & 2, Lyra Conditioning, Strip Plastic, and Twerk. They’ve also added Therapeutic Yoga for Anxiety, knowing that their students may be struggling a little more than usual phsycially and mentally. They’ve even added virtual private coaching if you’ve decided that becoming an expert pole dancer is your quarantine goal for 2020.

The Brass Vixens Virtual Studio is offered through FitGrid, a teleconferencing platform made with fitness studios in mind, making it interactive without being disruptive.  Students have the option to connect with their video function on, which makes it feel just a little more social while still maintaining a safe distance.  You can learn more about the Virtual Studio here.

To understand what Brass Vixens is truly all about, you have to attend one of their showcases.  There, students and staff take the stage to show off their best dance moves for the entertainment of their friends family and fans.  The spirit of community, support, and love at these events is overwhelming, and it’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.  So the babes behind Brass Vixens are rising to the challenge, as they do, with their first ever virtual showcase, the Qurantease. Featuring Zoom performances by the talented people in the Brass Vixens community, it all starts tonight!

The Quarantease virtual showcase is member’s only event, so here to reserve your spot (members only!) or head to the Brass Vixens website to learn how to become a member yourself.

Is there a fitness studio that’s helping you cope with quarantine life?  Share your favourites with us on Twitter so we can feature them as part of the Support our Studios series.
