When it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, we think getting around safely should be a no brainer. Luckily, our friends at Jameson Irish Whiskey agree.
This St. Patrick’s Day, Jameson Irish Whiskey has once again joined forces with the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to become the safe, and more importantly FREE transportation method of choice for party goers and merry makers. On Sunday, March 17th from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Jameson will be taking care of your TTC fare on all rides along the 501 Queen and 504 King routes in downtown Toronto.
“St. Patrick’s Day is one of our most celebrated days of the year and it’s also one of the busiest,” says Alice Carroll, Brand Manager, Jameson Irish Whiskey. “Deciding which party to attend or bar to visit to celebrate with your friends is enough to think about. Your safe ride? We’ve got you covered.”
Feel free to leave your Presto card and TTC fare at home this St. Patrick’s Day. Fare boxes and Presto Card readers will be covered in vehicles on those routes so even if you forget your ride is free, you won’t be able to pay for it (isn’t that nice!) Keep in mind, however, that if you are connecting to those routes from another point in the transit system, you will be required to pay your fare when you begin your journey. But that’s a small price to pay to ensure you get to where you need to go safely, no matter where you’re coming from.
“The TTC is proud to partner with Jameson Irish Whiskey once again to offer safe, reliable service free of charge this St. Patrick’s Day,” said TTC Chair Jaye Robinson. “We hope customers will take advantage of the complimentary service and have a safe and fun celebration.”
If you’re looking for a simple and delicious cocktail to get your night started before you ride the rocket to your party of choice, or a little something to sip on as you celebrate your St. Paddy’s, we recommend this perfectly Irish Canadian concoction, the Jameson Ginger and Lime:
1 ounce Jameson Irish Whiskey
Large wedge of lime
Pour Jameson into a high ball glass filled with ice. Top up the glass with ginger ale and stir lightly to mix. Squeeze lime into glass to taste. Sláinte!
Have you decided how you’re spending St. Paddy’s this year? Jameson has gathered a list of the best parties in the city, conveniently along the transit lines that will be free on the day. Click here to learn more. Or we can help you take the guesswork out of it, and suggest Grace O’Malley’s. The iconic Toronto Irish pub will open its doors right at 11 a.m. and will have live music, Jameson, Ginger & Lime’s drinks specials and free swag giveaways, all the things you need for a great party!
In the end, the best party is one you arrive at safely, and one you get home from safely too. No matter where you live and where you’re partying this St. Patrick’s day, please drink responsibly, and never ever drink and drive.
