Though the original story of the Martini has many variations, and trust me I’ve done my research, its beginnings stem back to the late 1800s. By the mid 1920s the Martini had reached it’s now recognizable and classical form; in which London dry gin and dry vermouth are combined at a ratio of 2:1.
Most commonly made by stirring in a mixing glass with ice cubes then strained into a chilled cocktail or martini glass, garnished with two green olives or a twist of lemon peel, this drink has been enjoyed the world over ever sinces
These days so many cocktails are made in so many different fashions, which is why we like to mix it up!
Recently we came across Wyborowa Wódka a delicious polish vodka that we must admit we really enjoyed “testing” out. And since the team at our office seem to currently be on a Vodka kick, and we are always on a Dirty Martini kick, we thought that we would give the combo a whirl.
Made the same way as the original, but with a modern twist, we used 2 parts Vodka to 1 part Dry Vermouth, combined in a glass with ice and stirred, then strained into a martini glass. Now the dirty part. Add a splash of the olive brine, the more the dirtier! And returning to its classic roots, this perfect cocktail is finished with a garnish with 2 olives.
There you have it, the perfect dirty vodka martini. Just incase you aren’t a fan, we have a couple other great cocktails that are the perfect concoction with Wyborowa Wódka.
