Sip Happens – Savory

When it comes to savory drinks, it is a fine art. Like that of many finely made cocktails, the balance of flavors must be in perfect balance, so when it came time to bring you this week’s Sip Happens, all about how to make the best in savory drinks, we just had to go back to the experts and get the down low on the best savory drinks from our friends at East Thirty Six.

When most people think of savory drinks the first thing that comes to mind is a Ceasar (if you are Canadian) or a Bloody Mary (which for the record is not nearly as good) but really there are so many more choices in this ever growing drink category so we have brought you the details on how to make the Brise de Printemps along with two other amazing cocktails that will have you coming back for more.

Here are our favourite Savory cocktails:

 

Brise de Printemps

Use: Rocks glass 

Directions: Shaken/ double strain

Garnish: Fennel spring and half mint sugar rim

muddle 5 mint leaves in your shaker

1.5 oz mezcal

0.5 oz dolin dry

0.50 oz  lime juice

0.75 oz fennel syrup

2 dash peychaud bitters

top up 1 oz perrier

 

Back to the root

Use: Rocks Glass

Directions: shake/ double strain

Garnish: beets leaf, straw

Muddle 3 slices of red beets flesh (raw)

1.5 wild turkey bourbon

0.25 oz Campari

0.25 oz Appleton rum v/x

0. 5 oz lime juice

0.5 oz agave nectar

1 spray rose water in shaker

 

Ave Caesar

Use: Highball Glass

Directions: build in

Garnish: Celery salt rim / bocconcini and basil garnish

muddled hot peppers

1.5oz prosciutto Vodka

3 dashes balsamic vinegar

Top up with clamato juice

salt and pepper
