Say Goodbye to Sun Damage with Skin Laundry

*Written by Monique Kerns

I am pretty lucky to live in a world where the sun shines just about every day. I traded in trendy Toronto for Las Vegas and L.A., a dream for one who doesn’t enjoy winter. But east for the west resulted in a lot more sun exposure.

And so in my sunny world a not so sunny spot appeared, what is commonly known as a sunspot.

So when I was given the opportunity to try out Skin Laundry in Woodland Hills and the 15-minute Laser & Light Facial I jumped on it. The best way I have heard this treatment described is “like a blow out for your skin”. Like a blowout, this isn’t a make over for your skin, but it is 15 minutes that lead to younger and better looking skin for about three to five days. Each treatment results in that better looking skin for a little longer.

You go in, sign in, and someone promptly brings you a face wipe, and into the next room. You get a little white headband and a pair of goggles to protect your hair from the products and your eyes from the laser and the light.

Step one is the YAG laser. It doesn’t hurt; it feels like quick snapping over your skin. They go over your face twice. This part is the bacteria removing, collagen boosting part.

Then a gooey clear gel is spread over your face, like what they put on you if you are having an ultra sound. Then the light, this is the part that I came for, this light is what fades sunspots, and helps to remove acne scars.

AND GUESS WHAT- it did! The sunspots are visibly faded, and the majority of the acne I was dealing with at the time cleared up. I am sure that with continued treatments the results I was seeing would only continue to get better.

Oh, and did I mention that the first time is free? Every treatment after that run $65, you can get packages to save on the over all cost. They have a carbon peel that I am dying to try, I am sure it will deliver another level of skin magic.

After my last treatment I picked up their “Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 35” for $25. I plan to protect my skin from any further sunspots. Over all, this isn’t a fast major transformation, but it is steps towards healthier and happier skin.
