It’s no secret that winter weather can wreak havoc on our skin. The face is one of the few things we leave exposed to the harsh, cold air, out of necessity, but the effects are inescapable. My skin has been feeling tight and dehydrated, no matter how much water I drink. I’ve also become hyper aware of every little sign of aging on my face, also exacerbated by the dehydration that comes with winter conditions. I knew it was time to seek out some skin saving help, so I took myself to Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, and basically asked them to save my face.
With locations across Canada and the U.S., Hand and Stone’s mission is to make skincare accessible to people from all walks of life. They create luxurious yet affordable experiences that sooth and relax as they treat and heal. I got the chance to try out their downtown Toronto location at Jarvis and Adelaide, where the atmosphere was cozy and inviting and the staff was kind and welcoming.
My Esthetician Julia went above and beyond during my facial, and really customized the experience to my exact skincare needs, based both on my concerns and her expert opinion. We started with a version of the Bio-Lift Collagen facial, starting with a rejuvenating and super exfoliating Active Peel treatment to invigorate and revive my winter dulled skin. The peel also works to combat the signs of aging, by forcing the skin to turn over its cells through chemical exfoliation. Due to my seafood allergy, Julia opted to skip the Collagen mask, as the collagen is marine sourced, which is something I would have NEVER thought to ask or even consider. I appreciated Julia’s attention to detail and concern for my health. She instead chose to focus on clearing up my skin with some gentle extraction and then applied a moisturizing face mask to give back some of that much-needed moisture to my sad, sad face.
I left my Hand and Stone experience feeling pampered and revitalized. Even now, more than a week later, my skin is smooth, soft, and supple. I even feel like I look a little bit younger than I did before I walked through those doors. I would highly recommend trying one of their treatments for yourself, and with locations all around Canada and the U.S., there’s a Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa near you ready to pamper you this winter.
