Roxodus Music Fest Cancelled; ticketholders offered free admission to SlamFest

Earlier today the news dropped that the Roxodus Music Festival, featuring headliners Nickleback and Lynyrd Skynyrd, was cancelled.  The festival was meant to take place from July 11th to 14th in Edenvale, Ontario.  Now, another Southern Ontario music festival is offering to welcome disappointed fans with open arms.

Roxodus Festival, though questioned by the ADDICTED Music Dept. for its lineup’s lack of diversity, was an event that thousands of Ontario music lovers were looking forward to. Meant to cater to lovers of classic, 80s and 90s rock, with Kid Rock, Blondie, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, and Cheap Trick on the bill, the lineup was definitely stacked. Organizers are citing structural issues at Edenvale Aerodrome due to the incredibly rainy spring we enjoyed in the province, though that explanation is getting some serious side eye on both social, local, and mainstream media.  Organizers are also claiming tickets costs will be refunded to fans, but no details have been forthcoming, leading to more concern and scepticism.

Either way, prospective Roxodus attendees now find themselves free next weekend and down one highly anticipated music festival experience.  Lucky for lovers of older rock however, there just happens to be another music festival of that nature taking place in Ontario this weekend.

SlamFest will be taking place this weekend, July 6th, at Bingemans Centre in Kitchener.  In light of the news that Roxodus is cancelled, SlamFest organizers Beyond Oz Productions and venue owners On The Grand are offering free Slamfest admission to all Roxodus ticketholders. This way they can still enjoy a summer music festival experience.  Though it obviously cannot capture the length and breadth of a 3-day, star-studded fest like Roxodus, with headliners like Queensryche, SKID ROW, and Great White, fans will find something to enjoy to somewhat make up for their disappointment. And while we don’t love the lack of diversity in this lineup either, we do applaud this creative act of generosity in the name of rock and roll.
