Preview: The last Electric Island, Labour Day edition

It’s that bittersweet time of year – just as summer is getting beautiful and consistent, it’s also ending… and the same can be said for Electric Island. This final event is going to be an epic finish, with Tale Of Us, Jamie xx, Hot Since 82 along with Terence Kissner, Gera, Members Only, and Simon Jain.

The organizers really saved the best for last this year by bringing in fan favourite Hot Since 82. The 30-year-old British DJ and house producer has been rising in popularity lately, but his following here in Toronto has known and loved him for a long while now. If you haven’t fallen in love with his remix of Green Velvet’s “Bigger than Prince”, then you should definitely take a listen below:

Tale Of Us is a duo, with Karim being a Toronto native and Matteo being born in New York. Both of them joined up as a Berlin-based duo, and while they’re self-proclaimed as tech-house, they have a wide range of sounds and styles that they showcase on stage.

From England, we also have Jamie xx, originally from the indie pop band The xx. He’s done remixes for Florence + The Machine and Adele. If you like the sound of The xx, you’ll most definitely love what Jamie xx has to offer.

If you’ve made it this far into the summer without having experienced an Electric Island, or even been to the Toronto Island at all, then it’s about time. Pencil in your Labour Day Monday, and come join us for spectacular views of the city, quality EDM, and a community of likeminded friends.
