This is the Best Protein we’ve ever Tested

When it comes to habits, I have a lot, presumably far too many, to list, but one habit that has stuck with me for over 15 years is my morning protein shake.

Like clockwork, I wake up at 7 am, walk the dog, start the coffee and once I’ve settled in, I have my morning shake.

Over the years, that shake has taken many forms, from ingredients to types of protein, natural milk to almond to oat and back again, but one thing has reminded the same, I’ve always added protein powder.

Back in the beginning, I used a whey protein, and for the time, it worked, but after a few years, I found that my stomach doesn’t like whey protein, nor does it like chemical additives, so, over the last decade now, I’ve been opting for a plat based protein for my morning ritual. Still, I must admit, after that must time, I’ve become rather bored, so I went in search of something new.

That search led me to Outcast Upcycled Plant-based Protein.

I was excited to try the entire collection, available in Chocolate, Vanille, Mix Berries, Mint Chocolate Chip and Lemon Meringue Pie, and learn more about upcycled protein.

For those of you that don’t know, Upcycling is the act of securing food that would otherwise be cast off into the garage. This includes mainly ugly or visually unappealing produce that wasn’t picked up by the grocer or was never sold by the farmer in the first place.

In the last decade, there has been a noticeable increase in companies doing this, and outcast turns unused goodness into a rather tasty protein.

They work with farmers, grocers and food processors to rescue imperfect produce destined for the dump. Then, after a sturdy handshake, they load up all the misfit produce into their cold trucks, keeping the valuable micronutrients intact, and rush them to our zero-waste facility.

Once they’ve arrived, they are lovingly bathed in a vinegar solution and put through the super-stellar-high-tech Outcast machine. What comes out is dehydrated produce packed with all the goods you’d get from plucking fruits and vegetables right from the earth. From there, they mill it into a fine powder and abra-cadabra. You have clean, powerful, plant-based supplements! You’re welcome.

We tested their line of proteins, and we love them. Not only do they offer everything you need from your protein, but they are also genuinely flavourful and not chalky like a lot of protein powders. Furthermore, since this protein is made from upcycling ingredients, by buying the product, we are doing our part in a small way to reduce waste, which, as we know, is a huge issue. So it’s pretty easy to see that we are ADDICTED to Outcast Protein.

So, if you’re searching for a plant-based protein or looking to try something new, Outcast might be the perfect choice for you.
