New Music Addiction – Grimes

While Canadian musical wonderwoman Grimes is by no means a new artist, my addiction to her work is definitely new to me, and I’m loving it. Her new album Art Angels has been on high rotation on my record player in recent weeks, and I just can’t get enough of her mesmerizing musical stylings. And now one of my favorite tracks has a brand new music video.

Recently Grimes released a brand new video for Kill V. Maim, the latest single from Art Angels, her 4th album (via Eerie Organization/Crystal Math in Canada and 4AD/Beggars in the rest of the world). Directed by Claire and Mac Boucher, the live-action video was shot right here in Toronto.  Watch it below.

Anyone else reminded of Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani, when they were both still edgy and cool? (Come back Gaga, come back!) Brash, sexy as hell and as perfectly weird as a bootleg anime cartoon, I seriously can’t get enough of Grimes

Thsoe craving some Grimes live can catch her at Coachella and as an opener for Florence & The Machine in the U.S. this spring at arenas including Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY ‪on June 14. She is kicking off a headlining Asia tour ‪on January 23 and currently graces the cover of Nylon Singapore. Grimes has been quite the media darling and cover girl extraordinaire in general. Art Angels placed on nearly every 2015 End of Year list, with #1 spots from NME, Stereogum, Gorilla Vs. Bear and many more. In 2015 alone, Grimes graced the covers of The FADER, Nylon, Dazed and Confused, NME, Flare and more.
