New Music Addiction: Goldilox and her latest single “I love you”

It’s a well known fact that music is one of my most intense addictions, and I love discovering new artists.  My latest addiction?  Canadian singer/songwriter Goldilox.

I first learned about Goldilox when she dropped her sadistically sultry first single “Touch you where it hurts” and its eye-popping video.  Take the girl gangster stylings of Rihanna’s “Bitch better have my money” and the Glen Close psycho ex girlfriend feel of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, take away all the fucks in the world and add a healthy dose of don’t mess with me, and you’ve got Goldilox’s “Touch you where it hurts”.  The contrast of the sweet Ella Fitzgerald opening to the dark electropop vibes of the single won me over immediately, and the power of both the music and the woman behind it held me tight in its grasp to the gorgeous fiery end.   Check out the video below:

Goldilox’s strong and steamy style is a stark contrast to her East Coast upbringing.  Born in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Goldilox spent her formative years embracing her artistic side.  She tested out multiple mediums before realizing that she could combine her love of visual and aural arts. She wrote songs, made videos and looped her artistic skills into everything she created.

From East to West coast, Goldilox moved to Vancouver in pursuit of a career in music.  That career next took her to Los Angeles, and finally to Paris, where she currently resides.  In her own words, “I want to be around inspiration, and what inspires me right now is being here in Paris. Here, uniqueness is encouraged. You have to go where you can grow. I feel like I’m a student in Paris, I am taking all its magic in and it’s coming out not only into my music, but in everything I do”.

From art to music, Goldilox’s passion for all things beautiful led her to several fashion collaborations with world-renowned brands and designers, including Diesel Black Gold, H&M, and John Galliano.  Music and fashion go together like, well, music and fashion, so it’s no surprise that this brave and brilliant babe has found success pursuing this latest path in her career.

Goldilox has a new album on the horizon slated for release this July.  Very Best will be showcasing exactly that; the best of the music Goldilox has to offer.  We may have to wait a bit longer for all her music, but she’s releasing a little something TODAY to keep fans satisfied while simultaneously leaving us hanging.  We’re excited to share her new single “I love you.”   Inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye and Pharrell, “I love you” showcases Goldilox’s softer side while staying true to her engagingly experimental sound.  “I love you” is the sweet yet sexy song that will soon become your summer soundtrack.  Check out the brand new video:
