Monty’s Golden Ryed Ale

It was through an industry friend that I was introduced to Old Tomorrow Beer and their original Canadian Pale Ale when it came out, and I must admit that I was a fan from the beginning. So when I heard that they had a new addition to the family with Monty’s Golden Rye Ale, I of course had to check it out for myself.

This silky smooth beer, to the sight is a deep caramel with golden tones, to the taste has notes of honey, vanilla, spied rye and of course caramel, the finish, refreshing, sweet and quite delicious.

Not only is this a great beer, but the inspiration for it came from gold medal winner and Amazing Race Canada host Jon Montgomery, which explains why it’s called “Monty’s” Ale and really, if a gold medal winner loves it, it’s good enough for me.

Monty’s Golden Rye Ale pairs well with fish, smoked and spice meats, and apparently is a “real treat” over vanilla ice cream, which now I’m going to have to try and report back about. It’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it.

So the next time you are looking to try something new in the world of craft beers, grab a bottle and enjoy, and as always feel free to share your thoughts @weraddicted and @TheMaleAddict.
