Mind, Body, Mountain at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akdhar Resort

If you’re anything like me, you need more from your vacation than just sun, sea and sand. While the thought of spending two weeks relaxing on a tropical beach appeals to me in theory, the reality is I get restless within thirty minutes and I start looking for something else to do. In the past, I’ve opted for city breaks in destinations such as New York and Barcelona but then I find I spend most of the time inside at museums, bars and restaurants.

That may be all about to change. Recently I heard about Anantara Al Jabal Al Akdhar in Oman. This remarkable resort offers a range of mountain activities, giving guests the opportunity to exercise their minds and their bodies equally, all the while harnessing the remarkable healing powers of nature. This completely holistic approach to health and wellness could be exactly what I’ve been searching for.

Mind

Overlooking the Al Hajar Mountain Range, the resort’s Diana’s Point offers a uniquely tranquil yoga experience. As the sun rises over the vast canyon, guests have the opportunity to inhale the early morning mountain air and truly feel the restorative powers of nature as they gently realign their chakras. Guided by an instructor, traditional Hatha yoga is also available at the Hammam for those looking to thoroughly detox the mind and body.

Body

Far from being simply the past time of LA’s rich and famous, hiking clears the mind and works the entire body. Easily one of the best ways to revive mental and physical strength, The Three Village Trail Hike takes guests on a high altitude journey through the history of the Al Hajar mountains. Walking guests along historic pathways through three ancient mountain villages, visitors can spot fossilised coral, look out over the impressive terraced farmland and early falaj irrigation systems, and even admire a working rose water distillery.

Mountain

If yoga and hiking aren’t enough for you, why not push your mental and physical boundaries to the extreme by taking on the very mountain that the hotel sits on. The Ultimate Jabal Activity Wall offers an exhilarating approach to health with several climbing routes, including a Via Ferrata steel cable that stretches 20 meters across the mountain. Adrenaline junkies can go even further by abseiling down a sheer ledge for a spectacular bird’s eye view of the local area.

One and Two-Day Mountain Escape Packages and World Wellness Weekend

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is now offering guests a chance to experience mind, body and mountain wellness through one and two-day mountain escape packages. The One-Day Mountain Escape includes yoga, a hammam experience, massage and wellness drinks, while the Two-Day Adventure & Fitness incorporates various elements such as hiking, the Activity Wall, Thai massage, sauna and an optional dedicated wellness breakfast.

What’s more, if you visit Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar on the 22nd and 23rd September 2018 you can enjoy a selection of complimentary wellness activities offered by the hotel to coincide with World Wellness Weekend.
