Meet Me in Africa, the philanthropic branch of public relations agency Vocab Communications, was founded by Chrissy Newton when she was introduced to a youth-based program in Tanzania while on a trip with MTV Canada and Life Momentum. A year later, she travelled back to learn more about what could be done and to further acquaint her self with the people, teachers and the children. That’s when and where Meet Me In Africa was born. Each year, she and a team of volunteers head back to visit the orphanage and the children and work on one project in construction, education, or agriculture.
When we learned all about this charity endeavor and heard that Chrissy was planning an artist showcase to raise fund for her next visit and project, we just had to get involved.
This week is the first artist showcase in support of Meet Me In Africa, taking place at Speakeasy 21 in Toronto and will feature performances from such artists and musical acts as Jully Black, Alysha Brilla, and DJ Samantha. Hosts are Taylor Kaye and Nana Aba Duncan, and yours truly for the online component!
Please come on out and join us for what should be a fantastic night and amazing party, and if you can’t make it, make sure to follow all of my live coverage on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook at @MarkMunroeMusic. Drop by the Meet Me in Africa website to find out more or to make a donation today!
