Spending a night in with Marques de Casa Concha

When it comes to spending a night in with someone special, hosting friends or family, there are really only two things you need for a great night, amazing food and great wine.

Now for me, I’ve always been a fan of the red, but now as the weather turns, the leaves fall and colder weather settles in around us, I love to have a hearty meal, great charcuterie boards, and I like them to be accompanied by some quality red wine.

If you asked me to describe the perfect meal for this time of year, I’d probably say a premium steak, mini baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and a glass of Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon.

Made in a Chilean Winery in the Maipo Valley this premium quality robust Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits flavours of cassis, blackberry, chocolate and cedar notes. Full-bodied and smooth, it makes the perfect addition to a steak dinner.

It’s rich without being heavy, flavourful without being overpowering, and the smoothness overall makes it very easy to drink and enjoy.

The Details:

VINEYARD DESCRIPTION:

Both vineyards are located close to the foothills of the Andes Mountains—Puente Alto is 650 m a.s.l. and Pirque is 570 m a.s.l.—and have alluvial soils that are poor in nutrients,  rocky, and highly permeable due to the abundance of gravel in the subsoil.

SOIL:

River bench associated soils that are alluvial, stony, poor in nutrients and highly permeable due to the gravel sub-soil.

CLIMATE:

Semi-arid Mediterranean and influenced by the Andes. This is the coolest part of the Maipo Valley. A broad daily day-to-night temperature oscillation extends the grape ripening period, concentrates the fruit, and intensifies aromas.

AGING:

16 months in French oak barrels, and in 5,000-liter foudre.

AGING POTENTIAL:

Drink now and decant or cellar until 2023.

For just $22.95 (LCBO VINTAGES#: 337238) Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon really is a fantastic deal, and not just for some same old same red, for a quality Cabernet Sauvignon that really does make the perfect pairing for a steak dinner or really most red meat, it would also be a great pairing with lamb as well.

Not a meat-eater? no problem, The Marques de Casa Concha is also perfect to have on its own when a friend drops in or to reward oneself with a glass for a productive day completed.

No matter how you enjoy it, I just hope you like it as much as I do.
